Gift 4 Nature Outcomes

Air Travel $Footprint = Reciprocity $Handprint

For previous overseas trips, Yoshimi & Jon donated directly to Million Metres Streams which was sustainable, but not regenerative. Thanks to the Emérgéntly process, they developed a more regenerative strategy designed to develop a more eco ego in youth. Initially 5 youths were invited to choose Nature based charities to each donate $1000 to. Then something happened that is typical of regenerative strategies. Full presentations are available by clicking the example slides next to the descriptions.

CharlesHCharlesValuesCharles, soon to turn 12, was the first to give a presentation, impressively without any help from his parents.

The Nature Conservancy’s purpose is to help preserve wildlife, forests, and large bodies of water.

By 2030, I will be 18 years old. By this time, I would have almost completed my first year at college, and have become mostly (I hope) independent.  I think that we will be able to avoid the worst of global warming, people will take care to preserve the environment, and forests will be re-planted. I also hope that people will begin to understand the effects of poaching, and will eventually stop.

Some new habits that I hope to have by the end of the month are composting, conserve, and bike. Overall, I think that this project has been essential to deepening my understanding of the seriousness of environmental issues.

TedSlideTedHTed visited the Rappahannock Estuary of the Chesapeake Bay where he learned about restoring the oyster beds as one step in the regeneration of the thriving ecosystem that used to exist.

  1. What’s important to me about oysters is they filter water.
  2. The Chesapeake Bay is important to me because if the water doesn’t get clean, it can hurt animals.
  3. What I can do from now on to help clean up the bay is donate money and put more oysters in the water. We can stop polluting the water – eg building houses; cows too close to the water’s edge; fertilizers seeping into the waterways.
  4. In 2030, I will be 15 years old and hope to see the Chesapeake Bay as clean as BVI (British Virgin Islands).

JAMESSlideJamesHJames presented about his #Team Seas organisation, but also engaged us all to join a local beach cleanup. Team Seas is:

  • Dedicated group of people
  • International
  • Mission: Rid the sea of trash.
  • Helped by Mark Rober the scientist and Mr Beast.

Why is this important?

  • It is important to help clean the Seas
  • They already cleaned 30 million pounds
  • For every dollar one pound has been cleaned.
  • I think I could make a big difference

EmiSlideEmiHEmi chose HEET for GEOTHERMAL HEATING as an environmentally friendly solution to heating and cooling homes.

We can tap into this level temperature at the the bottom, where if it is cold outside we can create these pipes of water to get the heat from the ground and bring it up into the house and vice versa. Very renewable, very efficient, and it can happen 24/7, both heating/cooling. And reciprocity is here where everyone can collaborate for the community.

HEET focus on enabling a clean energy transition, and they also focus on equality which I think is really important. And they also have research teams developing new technology. One thing that I learned is that Romans actually used geothermal energy for their bath houses.

Did you know that the Amazon rainforest has a very important role for our planet? The Amazon rainforest comprises more than half of the world's remaining tropical rainforest and has the greatest biodiversity of all tropical forests (based on the vascular plants as an indicator).

Looking towards the year 2030, already I think about rainy days differently. Now I think it's good if there's enough rain. Without severe storms, without massive floods and dramatic droughts. I want to live in a world where nature is in balance. I hope that this will go better with all events in the future. That everyone participates. I hope that by then our planet will have recovered a bit instead of being more exhausted and that there will be peace in the world.
