Strategy Spiral

EmergentlyElements

In times of uncertainty, use the Strategy Spiral to:

  • Inspire the team to make a difference for the Planet.
  • Aim for eco-centricspiralOutBullet, emergent outcomes.
  • Collaborate interdependently toward a common vision.
  • Use Next PracticespiralOutBullet  decision making, in tune with Nature.

The Strategy Spiral considers the:

  1. Potential of the bigger context. What systems is your strategy nested within?
  2. Functions/responsibilities of your strategy to the bigger context.
  3. Interdependencies of the functions/responsibilities.
  4. Actions that will improve those interdependencies (plus feedback systems to monitor the actions).

EmergentlyMetaphorThe planning process spirals multiple times through four functions/responsibilities of any system, considering how/what it:

  • Energises
  • Solidifies
  • Unifies
  • Transforms

Often these functions are interdependent, but the metaphors fire, earth, water and air help us distinguish the differences and relationships.

This is how Emérgéntly distracts us from the polarised, linear thinking that created the current emergencies.
